Spring in Colorado is totally a mislabeled time of year! Yes, it is mostly “False,” but there are glimmers of amazing moments in the springtime in Colorado! Here are some Ideas for a great spring time to put on your Spring bucket list in Noco and Beyond:
1. Catch some Rays at Brewery or Winery: A favorite activity of ours is enjoying a beer or glass of wine on a Brewery Patio while you watch the kids play. The tourists haven’t come into town yet, so the crowds are reasonable and it’s a super chill time. Our favorite is Odell’s – best patio for sure. They also have that sweet winery next door. Another great choice is the Sweetheart Winery in Loveland- great views and great open spaces for the kids to let loose!
2. Get Your Yard Clean Up Done: OK sorry this one is a bit lame, but this is for sure worth it to get started now. Leaves that you never got to from last fall that are still behind the shed? Planting seedlings for your upcoming garden? Aerating the lawn? Get your yard clean up done on a randomly warm weekend! Then once Memorial Weekend hits, all you’re doing it mowing the lawn, and enjoying those long summer days at the lake! Thank me later.
3. Spring Hiking (OR Snowshoeing! ) - Want to catch some sun but still are a total snow lover? Head to the Cameron Pass Area and do some snowshoeing. Great Hikes include Green Ridge Road (shorter) and Blue Lake (longer.) If you’re looking for something with no show shoes required, Emerald Lake in Rocky Mtn National Park is a great one to do. – just make sure to water proof your shoes!
4. HIKING Without the -Theoretical- Snow – The foothills offer many great options for hiking to take the kids (i.e. it’s less than a 30 min drive, and no one is getting wet from snow)! Devil’s Backbone in Loveland as well as a quick journey to the “A” in Fort Collins offer two great close to home options to get your and your family excited to get back outdoors again! As Sunsets are getting longer, consider making one of these hikes a Sunset Hike (Sunset right now is around 7pm!)
5. Run the Horsetooth Half – Truly one to say that you completed it – this half marathon is a tough one that goes up and over the Horsetooth Dam and ends at New Belgium Brewery. This one you may want to consider training for, or you could just go for it. Either way, you’ll definitely deserve that Fat Tire by the end of this run!
6. Spring Skiing – Spring can be the greatest time of year to ski in my opinion. Ski Resorts consistently see Highest snow volumes in March and do pretty darn well in April. Steamboat Springs, Keystone, Copper, are a few fan favorites.
7. Opening Day at Coors Field - Kickoff the Baseball Season down in Denver! The Colorado Rockies are on the road in March, but will See their first home game on April 4th against the Athletics. Enjoy events, food (foot long hot dogs, anyone?), and lots of fun opening day at Coors Field!
Any things that you’d add to this list? We’d love to hear it!
Happy Spring!
Ashleigh
