Welcome to December! November came and went in a flash and it feels like forever ago that we saw you all at our Hot Cocoa Party to kick off the Holiday Season!
How’s your Holiday Shopping going?
It’s always such a bear to tackle amid all the other holiday activities going on. I love giving my kids gifts, but tired of the clutter it adds to my home. Plus the gift giving process on Christmas morning is over in a Furious rush. Do you have that one friend who is impossible to shop for? I feel your pain.
So, this year, I thought I’d create a small experience gift guide for a few of those on your list that isn’t an actual thing, but rather something you can do with them. Hopefully this is helpful to you whether for Christmas, or for any birthdays beyond!
1. A Baking or Cooking Class with Your Kids or Friends at Ginger and Baker – This is a fun way to spend time with your kids and bake or cook together. Ginger and Baker has lots of classes such as Ugly Sweater Cookie Party, Surf & Turf, Tamale Making, Greek Night, and more! Be sure to check out specific classes for age restrictions to make sure your kids can be apart of that specific class if you're planning something for them. There are also Private Party Options to host your whole family if you want (Christmas gifts for everyone, done!). Have Dietary Restrictions ? They even have classes that accommodate for your needs, just check out their calendar! https://gingerandbaker.com/the-teaching-kitchen/
2. Beer & Bike Tour for the Beer Enthusiast in your life- So this one may need to be one you’ll wait for when the weather is nice, but great option if you’ve never done the Tour De Beer around Foco- https://www.beerandbiketours.com/fort-collins-brew-cruise Has Guided and Self Guided Options and includes a bike and a fun way to check out all the best breweries in town!
3. Snow Shoeing on the Foothills and Near Cameron Pass – This is a fun one that I hope to do once my kids are older! There are a lots of opportunites to get out on the mountainside including at Lory State Park and up the Poudre Canyon. Locations are listed here https://www.visitftcollins.com/things-to-do/winter-activities/snowshoeing/ Pick up your Rentals as Christy Sports or Mountain Rentals in Loveland, just to name a few. I’d Head up the Canyon and then come back down for a Cinnamon Roll at Vern’s in Laporte!
4. A One Night’s Stay at Great Wolf Lodge – This one’s a little bit further but worth it! Spend a Night down in Colorado Springs at the Great Wolf Lodge. This one is great for your family and guaranteed your kiddos will love it. Spend the whole day at the indoor Water Park, or take a trip around Colorado Springs for part of it. Don’t forget –you have access to the waterpark even after you’ve checked out of your hotel room that day! https://www.greatwolf.com
5. Progressive Dinner Date/ Scavenger Hunt – This one is a personal favorite our Family! Sam and I have done this over the years and it’s easy to put together and tons of fun! Pick an area (Old Town Fort Collins, Downtown Loveland, or Centerra to name a few ideas) and Make Reservations (or just walk in!) to a restaurant for Drinks/ Appetizers , then Main Course, & finally Dessert. Surprise your family/ significant other and don’t tell them where you’re heading to add to the fun! If you make them all within walking distance, it makes it extra fun and you can do it all on foot! Add another level by doing a Scavenger Hunt in conjunction with your progressive dinner! You can look online for Scavenger Hunt ideas.
I hope this helps you to think outside the box when it comes to gifts for your family and friends this year! If you need a break from giving things and trade it for experiences, you know your family or friends will remember and cherish those memories!
Love, Ashleigh
